Who would be the audience for your media product?
Thriller films usually have a very wide audience range.Through my research i have found that the audience members tend to be be mainly from 16-40 of both genders. Though the audience does vary with the sub-genre. This is because different genders and ages have different taste therefore some films may appeal to others more than others.
Our sub-genre is Action/Crime.This type of thriller would appeal to a younger audience compared to the other sub-genres. This is because it involves a lot more guns, car chases and explosions and doesn't require much thought. It usually attracts a male more than a female audience because of these conventions. However, occasionally females take on the heroic role in films like Tomb Raider and Charlies Angels which attracts a female audience but at the same time would attract a male audience because the heroines are attractive. Examples of action thrillers would be some James Bond films and The Bourne Series.
Therefore the audience for our film would be of both genders, but mainly males, aged 15-35. The age range does not appeal to the younger ages because it would contain violence and crime therefore it would not suit to that age. The target gender would be males because they are the majority who enjoy more of the fighting and tensing films. We have used 'Collateral' as our inspiration therefore we believe we would appeal to their audience also.
Collateral has a age restriction of 15, as we do, because the film would not be suitable for younger children as a result we have chose the same target audience. They also have a specific gender they would like to appeal to which is males, as do we, due to the type of film it is. This film also has well known celebrities, which allows them to appeal to their audience much easier.
